2019 Farmland Values & PAER Shows Slight Decline

The much anticipated 2019 Farmland values and cash rent report from Purdue University was recently released and trends indicate a slight downward adjustment in land values across Indiana.

Divided into regions, with data from several counties in each region, the PAER land values report is a great gauge of overall market trends in the farm real estate and cash rent rates in Indiana.

Several factors play a role in the range of 2019 farm ground prices across our local West Central region and low inventory of land for sale has helped maintain strong values near Purdue University itself and surrounding counties.

The price per acres of farmland and cash rent rate is determined by several factors including location, drainage & soil productivity.

As always, every farm is unique and requires special valuation to determine a market value and the average price per acre in Indiana. That said, the Purdue land values survey and annual report is a yardstick from which to measure & gain tremendous insight into the overall status and health of the Agricultural market in Indiana. We count ourselves very fortunate to be in the backyard of Purdue University and the School of Agriculture.
